Zorba the Greek is a novel by Nikos Kazantzakis. Its events revolve around the story of an educated man, named Basil, who is immersed in books. He coincidentally meets an illiterate man whose only school is life and his experiences in it. A friendship soon develops between the two men, in which the intellectual Basil, who inherited money from his father, learns a lot from Zorba about life, its love, and the art of living it. Hollywood also produced a famous film adapted from the novel with the same title and starring actor Anthony Quinn. The film achieved great fame.
