Writer: Franz Kafka
This book includes Franz Kafka's famous novel "In the Punishment Settlement" and his controversial short story: "Jackals and Arabs." The officer was directing the explorer who had arrived on the mysterious island to inspect the infernal torture machine in Franz Kafka's novella in the Punishment Settlement. The officer in this strange novella was the last of the breed of sadists, and he clings to his machine, which the new commander condemns and tries to nullify its brutal punishment. He ties the convict, lying face down, in its lower part, while the upper part moves to plow the victim’s back with needles until he dies, and then throws his body into the hole that has been filled with With his blood under the machine. The writer who wrote his works at the beginning of the twentieth century and left them as a secret testament and prophecy of the repression that would take place in a century desolate with war and ideology, proceeded with the events of his story until he created the victim at the last moment, and made the officer, desperate for support, lie inside his machine to be its last victim and buried next to his founding leader. The story does not end with this comfortable conclusion, because Kafka did not forget to alert us to a phrase engraved on the door of the tomb of the torture pioneer predicting that he will return after a certain number of years to lead his supporters to reclaim the colony.
