The novel travels to the future to see the next world that the nineteenth-century character or the nineteenth-century Englishman dreamed of, but it is a very different world from what he expected.

The new reality is subject to the monopoly of a few who run the world through private companies. They control governance, politics, the economy, society, education, health, ideas, resources, and security. They have military power in their hands, and they subject people to their laws, especially business laws that determine their incomes, expenses, and ways of living.

It is a society of work, eating and sleeping, in which a person does not leave the borders of this triangle, not because he is unable to leave, but he is domesticated to this lifestyle, and is robbed of the material capabilities that help him to do so, so that he remains spinning like a mouse on a wheel.
