In his novel “Donatists,” René Bazin uses the female element to illustrate the great transformations that have befallen French society as a whole as a result of the societal changes resulting from the expansion and blackening of capitalism and the widening of the gap between the countryside and the cities. Thus, Donatin’s personality structure is presented as a model of those who were affected by these influences and experienced many fluctuations due to their separation from Her original world and her displacement towards another completely different world. Thus, we are faced with a text that reinterprets the reasons for these emergency transformations and what they produced for a society whose disintegration took an upward trend, the effects of which continue to this day in French and European society as a whole.
